I have had the privilege of attending a number of Ms. Woodbury’s presentations/sessions over the past couple of years. Especially her sessions on diversity and equity and how municipalities and organizations can improve their practices by embracing a diverse workplace. Her passionate and insightful presentation not only highlighted the importance of embracing diversity but also provided practical strategies for fostering inclusivity. The impact of her message resonated deeply, inspiring a renewed commitment to promoting diversity in both professional and personal spheres.
I had the pleasure of attending a wonderful workshop titled "Shhhh, I Quit," facilitated by Debbie Woodbury at the National Training Institute in August of 2023. The title of the workshop alone caught my attention because I know firsthand how that feels and have come across several employees at the beginning, middle, and end of their career that feel that way are ready to quit. I needed to know what do you do when staff silently quit and stay in their roles. In the workshop, I was happy to learn techniques I could implement as a manager to reduce and eliminate burnout. I loved the interactive and enlightening session to discuss challenges and solutions to combat burnout.
I first met Debbie at NRPA Revenue Development and Management School where she was put on the spot to teach a segment about a hard-hitting topic, Race and Unconscious Bias. She took the "bull by the horns" and engaged the entire class; encouraging everyone to assess themselves and be open to the conversation at hand. She is charismatic and enthusiastic about her presentations. In the time that I've known her, she has proven to be ambitious, open to help and knowledgeable of her craft. She presents information in a way that ensures that even a newcomer could understand. She shows conviction to her cause with words and actions. It has been a privilege to know and learn from her.
